Job Description |
The Skidmore Sustainability Office is looking for an organized, self-directed, responsible student who has some existing skills related to trail maintenance, outdoor education, communication, and/or other relevant experience. A successful applicant will have good public relations skills and be comfortable interacting with visitors in the North Woods. CPR and First Aid certification as well as GIS knowledge and website development are desirable skills. The position will be active fall '18 through spring '19, with potential to extend into a summer position. The Steward will report to the Sustainability Coordinator for Student Programming. Stewards will work 3-4 hours per week as stated above. Primary initiatives for this fall and spring will be to coordinate volunteer days, repair boardwalks in the north woods, and lead monthly events for the Skidmore community.
Responsibilities: monitor physical conditions of the North Woods with trail work parties and erosion management; maintain kiosks, signage, and North Woods social media; and reach out to the Saratoga community. |
Job Requirements |

General Requirements:
Passion for sustainability and the outdoors.
Some previous experience with physical work.
Previous experience in community outreach or education.
Self-Starter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Coursework in the natural sciences
Previous experience in trail maintenance
CPR & First Aid certification
GIS coursework
